Rainbow Services‘ spring cycle of our 40-hour DV Counselor training will begin on Tuesday evening, November 4th, 2025 with sessions on Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 6 to 8 or 9pm – depending on the topic – and will end on Tuesday evening January 27th, 2026. Participants will receive a certificate of completion at the end of the training. There is a materials fee of $150. Online registration for the class is now open.

Everyone who completes the course will receive the certificate needed to work or volunteer at a domestic violence shelter/agency in California.

The course includes but is not limited to:

  • An overview of domestic violence
  • Substance Abuse and Domestic Violence
  • Legal issues
  • Housing/Public Assistance/hotline
  • Domestic Violence and Disabilities
  • Survivor options
  • Effect of domestic violence on children
  • Abusive teen relationships
  • Self-Care

Important Information for Prospective Participants

Before registering, please review the following training policies. Your enrollment in the program confirms that you understand and agree to these requirements. Certification will only be granted to those who meet all outlined expectations.

Attendance Policy

  • Full attendance is required to receive your Certificate of Completion.
  • Trainings are held via Zoom on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM (some sessions may go until 9:00 PM).
  • You must sign in and out using your full name in the Zoom chat at the start and end of each session.
  • There is a 15-minute grace period. Entry is not permitted after this time, and you will be marked absent.
  • Make-up sessions are available by request and must be completed to maintain certification eligibility.

Participation Expectations

  • Active participation is essential. You are expected to be fully present and engaged throughout the training.
  • Group discussions are part of the learning model. Lack of participation may result in being marked absent and required to attend a make-up session.

Zoom Guidelines

  • Your camera must remain on during all sessions unless you’ve made prior arrangements.
  • Stay muted when not speaking to reduce distractions.
  • A respectful and professional presence is expected at all times.

Independent Coursework

  • In addition to live sessions, you will complete required online modules through Teachable.
  • Completion of all independent work is mandatory for certification.

Confidentiality Statement

  • This training includes discussions that may involve personal stories and sensitive content.
  • Participants are expected to maintain the confidentiality of anything shared in the training space.
  • Recording, screenshotting, or sharing any participant information is strictly prohibited and may result in removal from the program.

Certification Requirements

  • Certification is contingent upon completing all 40 hours of training, including live sessions, make-up sessions, and independent coursework.
  • Rainbow Services reserves the right to withhold certification if any policy is not followed.

Code of Conduct

  • All participants must foster a trauma-informed, respectful, and inclusive environment.
  • Disruptive or disrespectful behavior will not be tolerated.

Please note that this class is for adults who are interested in working with survivors only and not those who cause harm. A certificate of completion will be given to everyone who completes the training.
